The pho brand that Toronto transplants never stop bringing up just landed in Vancouver proper.
Pho Anh Vu has opened its first Vancouver location on Kingsway, its second in Metro Vancouver after the Richmond outpost.
The Kingsway spot opened back in late May at 2155 Kingsway, about a block up from the Kensington Gardens T&T.

If you do not know the backstory, Pho Anh Vu built a cult following in Toronto with nine locations across Eastern Canada and a reputation as one of the city’s top pho spots since 2019.
It made its West Coast debut in Richmond in early 2025, and now the brand is officially in Vancouver too.
Walk in and the room is surprisingly MASSIVE.
There is a ton of seating, green leather booths, rattan pendant lamps, and a big blue botanical mural with parrots painted across one wall.

It is a clear step up from the usual hole-in-the-wall pho room, and a little different in look from the Richmond location.
The menu largely mirrors Richmond, with pho, bun bo hue, and vermicelli bowls all front and centre.

We got our usual, a bun bo hue and an iced ca phe sua da.
The bun bo hue had a nice kick to it, the kind you expect, but it was not overbearing even for a weak-spice person like me.
The broth was deep and lemongrass-forward, with the heat building slowly instead of hitting you up front.
The bowl was large and loaded, with ample beef shank, pork blood, and fish cake.

The one thing missing was the classic bone-in pork knuckle, though we have noticed more and more Vietnamese spots dropping the bone for an easier eating experience.
The iced Vietnamese coffee was strong and a touch sweeter than we like.
We needed the caffeine, so not much complaints there.

This stretch of Kingsway already has its share of Vietnamese restaurants.
Within a block, you have got Crab Hot Lau, Cafe Xu Hue and Hai Chi Em, but those lean into variety and more specialized dishes.
Pho Anh Vu is the simpler pick, the one where you just sit down with a bowl of pho or bun bo hue and call it a day. It’s less of a place if you’re looking to explore Vietnamese cuisine.
Now that the brand has Richmond and Vancouver covered, the fun question is where it lands next, and Burnaby feels like the obvious move.
Pho Anh Vu Kingsway now joins other recently opened Vancouver food spots like Dave’s Hot Chicken, Alfa Tea Robson, and Emeri Matcha.
