There will be a donut for your Hogwarts house at Tim Hortons in two weeks, and a cup that reveals a trail of Patronuses when you fill it.

Tims restaurants across Canada launch a Harry Potter menu on August 12, timed to Back to Hogwarts and the 25th anniversary of the first film.

The donuts are the centrepiece and they are split by house.

Gryffindor gets strawberry cheesecake, Slytherin gets chocolate pistachio, Ravenclaw gets blueberry, and Hufflepuff gets lemon meringue.

Alongside them are Golden Snitch Caramel Timbits, which can be ordered in a limited-edition Golden Snitch Timbits holder shaped like the thing itself.

The drinks lean on a trick rather than a flavour.

Order a Patronus Sparkling Quencher or a Forbidden Forest Iced Tea Quencher and it arrives in a temperature-activated cup that reveals a trail of Patronuses once the cold drink goes in.

The Patronus version can be customized with lemonade, a protein dairy beverage, or made frozen. The Forbidden Forest one runs only at restaurants with fountain beverages.

“We’re exclusively bringing the magic of Harry Potter to QSR in Canada in true Tims fashion,” says Hope Bagozzi, chief marketing officer at Tim Hortons.

The merch is the part that will actually move.

Beyond the Snitch holder there is a colour-changing Stir Wand that turns blue in a cold drink to mimic the Patronus Charm, plus gift cards carrying a limited-edition “25 Years of Magic” design.

Select items also come in limited-edition Harry Potter packaging while supplies last, across single donut boxes, multi-packs, 10 and 20-pack Timbits boxes and cold cups, which the company says are loaded with easter eggs.

Two things are worth putting in a calendar.

On August 28, participating Tims restaurants host a Harry Potter Trivia Night, with the list of locations and details still to come.

And from August 17 to September 6, anyone who orders and scans for Tims Rewards, in the app, or on TimShop.ca is entered for one of two grand prizes, each a Harry Potter VIP experience for two in London, England.

The Harry Potter menu joins a busy stretch of national chain tie-ins landing in Metro Vancouver this summer.
