Another food stall has quietly disappeared from The Amazing Brentwood’s TABLES food court in Burnaby.

Saboten, the Japanese tonkatsu chain known for its deep-fried pork cutlets, has announced that its Brentwood location is now permanently closed.

Various Noms Mag community members (Julio, Jess, and Valerie) shared with us the brand’s announcement on Instagram, which thanked loyal customers for their support over the years.

Saboten Brentwood first opened at the TABLES food court back in 2021, making it roughly a five-year run at the mall.

The chain invited customers to continue dining at their Aberdeen Centre location in Richmond, which remains open.

Tonkatsu is a popular Japanese dish consisting of a breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet, typically served with shredded cabbage and a tangy sauce.

Saboten first started in 1966 in the neighbourhood of Shinjuku in Tokyo.

It became one of the largest Tonkatsu chains with over 500 shops and was known for its high-quality cutlets, and became a go-to spot for Japanese comfort food.

This is not the first time a food stall has closed at the TABLES food court in recent memory.

We previously reported that two stalls, My Toan and Good Taco, quietly shut down at The Amazing Brentwood in Fall 2025.

ThaiGo also closed around the same time, making that three stalls that disappeared from the food court in a single year.

A&W is slated to take over that stall unit.

Saboten now adds to that growing list, bringing the total number of recent TABLES closures to at least four.

Saboten Brentwood now joins other recently closed food spots in Burnaby, including Arisu on North Road, Green Basil, and Sushi Toki.
