Richmond’s food scene has been seeing constant turnover in 2024, with new spots popping up and others quietly closing their doors.
One of the latest casualties is Dinesty Lite, which has recently shut down without any announcement.
A community member (@antfunni) noticed that the signage for Dinesty Lite had already been removed and the interior emptied.
A quick check of their Google business listing confirms the closure, marking the end of this quick service concept after less than two years of operation.
Dinesty Lite was launched in 2022 by Dinesty Dumpling House, a local fav known for its soup dumplings since opening its first location in Richmond back in 2006.
According to Dinesty’s website, the Lite concept was designed for speed, convenience, and a more casual dining experience, aimed at working professionals and small families.
This made sense as the interior and offers were more casual and fitting for a quick simple meal.
The menu featured a variety of options, including fried rice, noodles, hot pot, and bubble tea, while still offering Dinesty’s popular soup dumplings.
The location also partnered with Taiwanese dessert chain Blackball, allowing customers to enjoy Blackball’s signature frozen desserts alongside their meals.
However, with Dinesty Lite’s closure, this marks the end of Blackball’s presence in Richmond as well.
Blackball’s Union Square location shut down last month and is currently being taken over by the upcoming HeyTea.
Dinesty Lite’s quiet departure is another chapter in Richmond’s fast-changing food scene.
Just in the same plaza, two new food spots are in the works: House of Dawn and another taking over the previous longtime Ebisu unit.
