Burnaby’s fried chicken scene is about to get a new addition.

We spotted a large coming soon sign for Mary Brown’s Chicken along Kingsway, in the same plaza as The One Restaurant.

The new outpost is taking over the former Mosaic’s Newcomer Centre unit and will mark the chain’s very first Burnaby location.

For those unfamiliar, Mary Brown’s has been around since 1969, when it first opened in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.

From its beginnings on the East Coast, the brand quickly grew across Canada, becoming known for its crispy, golden fried chicken and hearty sides.

By the 1970s, Mary Brown’s had already expanded into Ontario, and today it operates nearly 300 locations nationwide, including 17 in British Columbia.

The chain emphasizes freshness and quality, with all of its chicken being Canada Grade A, delivered whole and fresh, marinated, hand cut, hand breaded, and cooked in small batches at each store.

Fan favourites include their signature chicken pieces, Big Mary sandwiches, and taters.

While the brand hasn’t officially announced the Kingsway outpost yet, signage is already in place, signaling that Burnaby residents won’t have to wait much longer before grabbing a bucket of Mary Brown’s.

The new Burnaby location will join other upcoming food spots in the city such as Malaysia Delight, XISHI, and Vegas Donuts Burnaby Heights.
