The bubble tea craze in Vancouver continues to grow as the highly anticipated MACU Tea has quietly soft-opened its first British Columbia location in Richmond’s Union Square Plaza.
MACU Tea enters the fierce competition for bubble tea supremacy in the plaza, joining established chains such as Yi Fang, Machi Machi, and Hanlin.
Founded in 2008, MACU Tea is a leading bubble tea brand in Taiwan, with 330 outlets. The company focuses on using fresh fruit, natural ingredients, and healthy options, especially in their fruit tea series. Each cup of tea is freshly made upon order, using seasonal ingredients and adhering to the highest food safety standards.
In 2019, Macu Tea created a new trend in the industry with their “Drinking Dessert” concept, elevating beverages to a dessert-like experience.
MACU Tea stays true to its commitment to real fruit and natural ingredients, with staff juicing fresh fruits in front of customers in the store.
Macu Tea’s mission is to bring their “Fruit Your Life” concept into customers’ lives by consistently delivering sincerity and passion from the beginning to the end of the tea-making process.
Even during its soft opening, lines have been forming inside the store, with customers eager to try the flavours. The King of Mango Smoothie Drinking Dessert, featuring mango pieces, jellies, and pomelo, has been receiving high praise.
The extensive menu includes Tea Lattes, Milk Teas, Yakult flavors, and their Li-Li series (fresh real fruit). With such a wide variety, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste. For those unsure of what to try, the menu highlights “Recommended” options as an introduction to their best drinks.
We personally tried their top 2 drinks: summer special King of Mango Smoothie and Sunshine Li-Li Tea (fresh orange juice, passion fruit and green tea) and found them both super refreshing! The former does not allow any customization but still found it not too sweet.
As the bubble tea market continues to thrive in Vancouver, Macu Tea brings an exciting new twist to the scene with its innovative Drinking Dessert and fresh fruit concept.
And with the summer weather coming soon there is no doubt MACU Tea will be a hit.
According to their staff, their grand-opening is estimated to be on May 20th.
