A New Japanese Gyudon Spot Is Opening on West Broadway

It looks like West Broadway is welcoming a new Japanese eatery soon.

Following the closure of 404 Coffee Labโ€™s indoor dining space, the cozy unit across from Broadway-City Hall Station is being transformed into Oishinoya.

They are a Japanese gyudon brand that specializes in premium beef rice bowls.

Since 2023, the brand has been dedicated to using premium Canadian-grown beef and perfectly cooked Japanese short-grain rice to create simple yet flavourful meals.

The West Broadway location will feature a layout that keeps the solo dining booths from the spaceโ€™s previous tenants (Ramen One & 404 Coffee Lab), giving guests a private, Japanese-style dining experience.

Orders will be placed through self-order kiosks near the entrance, and dishes like Unagi, Negi Gyudon, and Mentaiko Gyudon will be available once doors officially open.

You can also still grab drinks from 404 Coffeeโ€™s original takeout window, which will remain in operation.

Oishinoya is from the same team behind Pokey Okey and has mostly been a takeout-only brand until now.

This new Broadway location marks one of its second dine-in expansions, with another full buildout underway inside the upcoming food hall across from CF Richmond Centre.

There, Oishinoya will open alongside Pokey Okey and a new Japanese cafรฉ concept called Nonbiri.

The restaurant is currently waiting for final permits and is expected to open very soon.

Once open, Oishinoya will join the growing list of recently launched Vancouver food spots, including Viet Street Food Cafe, Happy Sushi Victoria, and Nizu Cafe.
