Richmond’s dessert scene is about to get sweeter with the arrival of Fluffle Cafe, a new Korean dessert spot set to open on August 30.
The café is run by Jina Park and her mother, who both bring years of experience in the food industry.
Jina shared with Noms Magazine, “Since high school, I’ve been working in the food industry—gaining experience in sushi restaurants, dessert cafés, ramen shops, and more. Through those years, I realized how much I love creating food and seeing customers enjoy it with a smile.”
She added that her mom shares the same passion, which led them to team up and open their first café together.
Living in Richmond for over a decade, the family felt it was the natural place to launch their new venture.
“Having lived in Richmond for over 10 years, we believe this community is the perfect place to begin our journey,” said Jina.
The menu leans into Korean dessert classics.
Guests will find bingsoos (shaved ice) in flavours like injeolmi, honeydew, and mango, alongside a variety of croffles, coffee, and drinks.
Jina recommends the injeolmi croffle, creamy salmon croffle, mango bingsoo, honeydew bingsoo, and grain latte (misutgaru) as must-tries.
The space itself is cozy at 900 square feet, with seating for about 10 guests.
Designed to balance out the cold desserts, Fluffle Cafe features a warm and welcoming atmosphere with yellow as its main colour and artwork by local artists on the walls.
The café takes over a former realty shop at Cambie Road and No. 4, slightly outside Richmond’s core but in a neighbourhood familiar to the owners.
Spotted first by our friend at Richmond News back in July, the opening has been quietly anticipated by locals.
Now, with doors officially opening Aug 30th, Fluffle Cafe is ready to join Richmond’s growing lineup of new food spots, including Egg Lab, Hong Phat Richmond, and LUCA.
