A New Hidden Chinese Coffee Shop With Unique Fruit Americanos Opened in Richmond

There is a new coffee shop hiding on the second floor of Aberdeen Square in Richmond, and unless someone tips you off, you would probably walk right past it.

Magpie Coffee quietly opened earlier in April 2026, tucked into the corridor near Shiny Tea on the second floor.

A Noms Mag community member (Valerie) tipped us off, and we went to check it out.

The first thing that stands out is the menu.

This is not your standard Vancouver cafe.

The drink list reads like something you would find at a Cotti Coffee or Luckin Coffee in China, packed with fruit-infused americanos and creative latte combinations that you will not see at most local spots.

The Special Americano section alone has over 20 options.

Where else will you see Grape Orange Americano, Osmanthus Americano, Cherry Blossom Americano, and Passion Fruit Jasmine Americano?

According to staff, the Camellia Americano is the most popular item.

We opted for the Grape Orange Americano since the combo sounded WILD.

We have tried the orange americano pairing before at other spots and enjoyed it, so adding grape to the mix felt like a natural next step.

The grape brought a bit more sweetness to the citrus base, rounding out the tartness without covering up the coffee.

If you already like orange americanos, this one lands in the same lane with a slightly sweeter finish.

On the standard side, they also carry classic americanos starting, lattes, matcha lattes, and teas.

The special americanos run $5.99 each, and the bubbly versions go for $8.99.

The space itself is TINY.

There are only two tables on the side, each with two chairs.

If you manage to grab a seat, the spot is calm with bright natural light coming through the windows.

If not, you can always take your drink upstairs to the food court.

One thing Aberdeen Centre and Aberdeen Square have lacked for a long time is a decent coffee shop.

That is slowly changing now.

Butterjoy arrived in late 2025, and with Magpie opening as well, there are finally real coffee options in the complex.

Aberdeen Square in general has been ACTUALLY interesting lately.

The mall was largely deserted for the better part of a decade, but newer shops and the arrival of Pai Pai have made it feel way more lively than it has in years.

Magpie Coffee joins other recently opened food spots in Richmond, including Ban Bu Xian Alexandra Road, Cafe Gloucester, and Chow Noodles.
