Fans of Japanese soufflé pancakes, get ready—something jiggly is coming to Vancouver!
Fuwa Fuwa, a popular East Coast chain known for their soufflé pancakes, is finally landing in Vancouver.
The brand actually opened their first BC location on Oct. 17th in Langley.
Fuwa Fuwa, which means “fluffy fluffy,” first launched in Toronto back in 2018, and since then, they’ve expanded across Canada, the U.S., and even the UK.
With 10 locations in Ontario, 5 in Alberta, and others sprinkled in the U.S. and Quebec, it’s safe to say these guys have nailed the soufflé pancake game.
Now, Vancouver is about to get its very own taste of North America’s largest soufflé pancake and dessert café.
So, what makes these pancakes so special?
Each Fuwa Fuwa pancake starts with egg whites whipped to soft peaks, which is key to their airy texture.
They’re cooked slowly at a low temperature to achieve that delicate balance between a soufflé and a traditional pancake—soft, bouncy, and incredibly light.
It’s a dessert that’s all about the love and patience poured into each creation.
In fact, the brand’s co-founder drew inspiration from watching his mom’s delight while enjoying her favourite dessert.
Besides their famous pancakes, Fuwa Fuwa’s menu is filled with a variety of sweet treats and drinks.
You can try their signature fluffy pancakes topped with fresh cream and fruits, or go for some unique flavours like Matcha Tiramisu or Crème Brulee Pancakes, complete with torched caramelized sugar on top.
And if you’re in the mood for something savoury, you’ll love their croffles—a flaky, crispy fusion of croissant and waffle—with options like Avocado or Smoked Salmon Croffle.
Since the locations are franchised, it’s safe to say they’ll carry the same items as the other locations.
So likely their Burnt Top Cheesecakes, including unique twists like Earl Grey or Coconut flavours will be available as well!
Plus, there will be plenty of sweet sips to wash it all down, like a creamy Caramel Frappe or a zesty Yuzu Soda.
The new location will be opening in the heart of the West End, right next to the recently opened Perfecto Cafe on Robson and Nicola St.
According to Fuwa Fuwa, the grand opening is set for November 16 – 17.
Of course, with the arrival of Fuwa Fuwa, it’s hard not to think of the similar chain Gram Japanese Pancakes, which shut down all three of its Vancouver locations last year.
It will be interesting to see if Fuwa Fuwa can find more success where others struggled.
