While most of the city is on the hunt for more affordable food options, Richmond’s priciest yogurt shop, DuoDuo Fruit, is making a bold move into Burnaby.
Known for their premium-priced $25 yogurt bowls, DuoDuo Fruit is set to open a new location on Grimmer Street this September.
DuoDuo Fruit first opened its doors in Richmond back in December 2023, quickly gaining attention for its jaw-dropping prices.
It is actually a brand that first started in Toronto.
The menu features flavours like Peach Strawberry Yogurt Bowl, Mix Fruit Yogurt Bowl, Lychee Yogurt Bowl, and Blue Spirulina Yogurt Bowl, all tagged at an eye-popping $25.99.
And it doesn’t stop there—DuoDuo also offers premium-priced fruit slices, with items like cherries for $16.99 and watermelon for $13.99, as listed on their Fantuan page.
Back in May, we couldn’t resist the temptation to find out what a $25 bowl of yogurt tastes like.
We tried the Blue Spirulina Bowl, and while it was good and beautiful, we couldn’t help but feel that the price tag was a bit much for our taste.
But it’s clear that we aren’t the target market, and there’s definitely a niche audience willing to shell out for these upscale treats.
After all, if L.A.’s Erewhon can sell $20 USD smoothies and become a viral sensation, there’s no doubt that DuoDuo has found its own following.
The new Burnaby outpost will be taking over the former Song Tea location on Grimmer Street, and the shop is already hiring, according to an announcement on Chinese social media.
While the prices may raise some eyebrows, there’s a certain demographic that fits DuoDuo’s luxury appeal.
