Can you remember all those times you stood in the grocery aisle, squishing avocado after avocado, trying to find the least ripe one?

We’ve all had that struggle.

You want that perfect guac for your toast or a ripe slice for your smoothie, but sometimes it’s like winning the lottery.

Say hello to the Avocado Ripeness Scanner!

This nifty gadget checks your avocado to see if it’s perfect for eating.

@celzurich Only in Switzerland you have a ripeness scanner dedicated to avocados..! 🤣🥑 Thanks @Migros ! #switzerland #zurich #avocados ♬ original sound – kardashianshulu

Gone are those days of waiting for at least three days to finally have a taste of that fresh buttery fruit.

This gadget is the brainchild of founder Marco Snikkers of OneThird, who, like the rest of us, hates wasting food.

So how does this scanner work? Artificial Intelligence and near-infrared technologies are combined to inspect the biometrics of the fruit and relay information on the device’s screen.

The device then shares whether the avocado is ready to enjoy today, is too firm and will require you to wait for a few more days to eat, or at a critical state that may suggest it has mold inside.

Think of it as peeking the insides of avocados without bruising them. Genius!

Now, some folks are scratching their heads, wondering, “Why do we even need it? The traditional squeeze test is just fine.”

But hey, not everyone’s got that magic touch. And you don’t want to risk your fruit getting squished before it gets home, do you?

According to Marco, the machine also works for other fruits too like mangoes, strawberries and bananas.

But there’s one catch: The scanner isn’t widely available yet – just in a few places like the Netherlands and Singapore.

So keep your eyes peeled. This tech may be coming to a store near you before long.

We have to admit, this avocado scanner is amazing.

It points us toward an era where selecting perfectly ripe fruit doesn’t take any guesswork.

And honestly, who wouldn’t want grocery shopping made that much simpler?
