Vancouver’s bubble tea scene is pretty packed, mostly with chains straight outta Taiwan or China.
Well, it looks like a new player is entering the bubble tea chat from…Toronto!
Signs for M Cha Bar were spotted by a Noms Mag community member (@dinvancity) setting up shop in one of those new units popping up on Renfrew Street, right across from the Broadway Tech Centre.
Looks like they’re bringing their Ontario vibes to the West Coast for their first BC location.
M Cha Bar first opened back in 2018 at Toronto’s Vaughan Mills Plaza.
They talk a big game about honouring traditional tea culture while adding innovative twists.
Think high-quality loose-leaf teas brewed fresh, sometimes even using espresso-style machines.
They seem pretty focused on using the good stuff: fresh fruit (no artificial flavours, they claim), local organic milk, and natural sugars.
Plus, they emphasize their handmade toppings – we’re talking brown sugar boba, taro balls, taro paste, and black sugar pudding, all made in-house.
But here’s where it gets extra interesting: M Cha Bar isn’t just about milk teas and fruit teas.
Their menu also includes Hong Kong-style egg waffles, coffee, and even artisan gelato.
In Ontario they currently have 4 locations.
They’ll be joining a whole cluster of other chains setting up along that Renfrew block near the SkyTrain station, including Pokerrito, Boardwalk Burgers, Pizza Pizza, and A&W.
It’s turning into quite the little food hub over there.
No official opening date announced yet, but the signs are up, so hopefully, it won’t be too long before we can check out these Toronto treats.
Excited to try a bubble tea chain that isn’t from Asia, or mostly curious about those egg waffles and gelato? Let us know!
