Robson Street and the West End are buzzing with changes lately.

New spots are sprouting up like the Hello Kitty Cafe and Bada by Damso, adding to the lively food scene in the neighbourhood.

But amidst all the excitement, there’s some sad news for pastry lovers.

Simit Bakery has quietly closed its Robson location.

This Turkish bakery has been a beloved brand since starting in 2018. The Robson location opened up back in October 2023.

Their traditional Simit, a crisp sesame-studded bread rings, was what they were known for.

They also delighted customers with their San Sebastian Cheesecake and flaky Bourek.

Walking past the Robson Centre on May 25th, we were surprised to see Simit Bakery’s unit empty. Unclaimed mail lay scattered on the floor, a silent sign of their sudden departure.

There hasn’t been any official announcement from Simit Bakery, but the unit is already listed for sale online.

If you’re craving their authentic Turkish pastries, you’ll now have to head to Simit’s other two locations on Broadway and in Kitsilano.
