The 30 minute late lunchtime wait on a Friday told me everything I needed to know about how badly Richmond missed this place.
Wo Fung Noodle is back, ACTUALLY back, this time as Wo Fung Noodle Express in the same unit beside IHOP in Richmond.
The cart noodle spot reopened on May 6, 2026, and based on our anonymous lunch visit, the regulars wasted no time.

If you missed the saga, here is the speed run.
Back in December 2025, Wo Fung announced a 30-year farewell, with the family stepping into retirement after three decades of running the Richmond cart noodle counter.
The final days pulled out massive lines from regulars and first-time visitors alike, and the closure landed as one of the most mourned Richmond food losses of the winter.
Then in April, the grocery store next door took over the unit and opened a new spot called Wah Shang Kitchen, run by the same Wo Fung family, with a 2-items-1-rice format.

That concept ran for about a week before our community started spotting the Wah Shang signage coming down and the Wo Fung Noodle Express signs going back up in its place.
On April 23, the team confirmed the reversal directly on the Wo Fung Noodle Facebook page.

In their own words: “We decided to drive back to cart noodles. Originally thought it could be safe to retreat, but reality is often more cruel than thought.”
The same family is behind the new chapter, just under a slightly different name and inside a renovated room.
We stopped by anonymously during lunchtime last week to see how the comeback was landing.
The room was PACKED.

There was a 30 minute wait for a seat, which even on a Friday in a Richmond strip mall is a strong signal that the cart noodle muscle memory is still alive in this neighbourhood.
If you are new to Wo Fung, the format is the classic Hong Kong cart noodle drill.
You get a paper sheet with a long list of noodle options and an even longer list of toppings, you tick what you want, and your bowl gets built to order.

The famous wind sand chicken wings are also back on the menu, alongside the usual lineup of HK snacks the original spot was known for.
The one thing I would flag is that the sheet itself DOES NOT list prices, which makes pre-budgeting your bowl trickier than it needs to be.
Many people will wonder: does it taste the same as before?
That, I do not know.
It actually has been ages since we’ve had Wo Fung.
But the wind sand chicken wings are as satisfying as ever – especially since they come piping hot.
Staff confirmed it on the way out: things did not pan out the way they had hoped, so retirement is on the back burner for now, but the team is the same.
For now, the cart noodle corner that locals thought was GONE is open again, just with a freshly renovated room behind it.
Wo Fung Noodle Express joins a growing list of recent Richmond openings, including Uncle, Daydreamers by Cafe33, and Magpie Coffee.
