A Pho Spot Was Spotted Coming To Richmond Aberdeen Centre’s Cursed Unit

The space had barely gone dark for a week and a new sign is already up for what’s coming next.

Walking through Aberdeen Centre earlier this week, we were surprised to find a new coming-soon sign already in the window of the old Hazukido Cafe Plus unit, right next to one of the mall entrances.

It is one of the more visible spots in the building, the kind of corner shoppers pass on their way in and out.

The new tenant is Pho Net Viet, a Vietnamese pho spot.

That is a fast turnaround.

Hazukido Cafe Plus, the chain’s only Cafe+ location in North America, shut down here on June 14 after about two years as a sit down version of the Japanese-style French croissant cafe.

Inside, not much has changed yet.

Most of the unit has not started renovations, so the new owners are likely sticking to mostly cosmetic work to strip out the old Hazukido branding.

There is a small mystery attached to the name.

A pho spot called Pho Net Viet operated in Coquitlam before it shut down in 2025.

It is not clear whether this is the same team trying again in Richmond, and the logo on the new sign does not match the old Coquitlam one, which suggests it may not be.

If it is a revival, nobody has said so publicly, and no other details about the spot are out yet.

What makes this one worth watching is the unit itself.

This ground-floor corner has a reputation locals only half-joke about, since it seems to cycle through a new food business roughly every two years.

For a mall this busy, that kind of churn in one spot stands out.

A new banner going up within days of the last tenant leaving only adds to that reputation.

Hazukido was just the latest to come and go, and now a pho shop is the one trying its luck.

Whether pho is what finally sticks there is anyone’s guess.

It is part of a busy stretch for the mall’s food scene more broadly.

Taoke is gearing up to open in the former Chef Hung unit in June.

Man Ri Sung is relocating into the food court, and Taiwan Bento 101 just opened.

Both the former Meitan and Garaku units have now been leased too.

Pho Net Viet joins a wave of other upcoming Richmond food spots, including Fresh St. Market at Richmond Centre, Bengong’s Tea, and Dimsum Caddy.

We will update this once an opening date, menu, or ownership details surface.
