Longtime Vancouver Hong Kong Style Restaurant Reopens In Richmond Food Court

The owners of a Hong Kong restaurant that Granville Street lost last year are back, and we caught them on day one.

CK Tea C, a new Hong Kong cafe stall, opened on June 23 in the Pacific Plaza food court in Richmond.

We were walking through the food court for a late lunch when we spotted the giant congratulations flower out front, the universal sign that a stall just opened.

We were not the only curious ones, with a steady trickle of locals wandering up to order too.

Here is the part that will mean something to a lot of people.

The owners, Kee and Anne, confirmed to us that this the same Ming Tak, the Hong Kong style restaurant that ran on Granville Street for 24 years before closing in April 2025.

They have taken over the old Taikoo Yummy Food unit, which shut down in late April 2026.

If you are expecting the exact Ming Tak menu, though, this is not quite that.

There are no baked rice plates or HK sandwiches here, and the all-day breakfast sets that are having a big moment in the city right now are missing too.

It is possible Pacific Plaza limits overlapping items between stalls to protect each vendor, a rule some food courts run, but we could not confirm that.

What you do get instead is a tighter, rice and soup focused lineup.

Think deep fried chicken leg with curry rice, curry chicken on rice, chicken with vermicelli in soup, congee, and hot pot.

We went straight for the deep fried chicken leg with curry fried rice combo, which comes with a drink, plus $1.50 if you want it cold.

It is one of the dishes they are known for, with a big glossy photo of it right on the stall.

It lived up to the picture.

The chicken leg was GIANT and came out piping hot, hot enough that yes, we burnt ourselves.

The skin was shatteringly crispy, and underneath it the meat was still juicy and moist, with a salt and pepper mix dusted on top for an extra kick.

For Ming Tak regulars, the bigger draw might just be seeing Kee and Anne back behind a counter at all.

And for anyone who works the Richmond food court circuit, that is one more solid lunch option in the rotation.

CK Tea C now joins other recently opened Richmond food spots like Jiawei Big Bowl, Wharf and Flame, and Dear Garden.
