A Whistler-born coffee roaster is expanding yet again in Vancouver, now on its third outpost.
A Noms Magazine community member (Jamie) spotted Forecast Coffee has gone up at the Cascades, the Chard Development rental project on SW Marine Drive.
The building itself is listed by Chard has been under construction for the past couple of years and is finally almost complete.l
The Cascades is a big one.
Chard’s project page lists 580 rental homes across two towers, with 20% of suites at below-market rents and supportive homes run with the YWCA.
And on its ground floor is more than 17,000 square feet of commercial space.
Forecast is the first tenant we’ve seen named for any of them, so who fills the rest is still an open question.
The site has a breakfast history.
It’s the old Marine Drive Denny’s block, a location some locals called the only “good Denny’s” left in the city before it closed December 26, 2022, to make way for the towers.
Forecast started in Whistler’s Function Junction in 2020, weeks before the lockdowns.
It came to Vancouver with a Main Street cafe in 2021 and added East Hastings in June 2025.
This summer it opened its North Vancouver headquarters on Esplanade, a cafe, roastery and test kitchen in one room, which we covered on August 30.
The coffee is certified organic and roasted weekly, and the company holds B Corp certification.
Marine Gateway makes it the brand’s first spot near the Canada Line.
For commuters coming off the train at Marine Drive, that means Forecast is a short walk from the platform.
The area has also been craving another cafe aside from Starbucks.
And if this outpost mirrors the others, that means residents in the area will also be seeing a brunch, cookies, and wine on the menu.
Until the doors open, the closest Forecast cafe is the original Vancouver location at 2980 Main Street.
Forecast Coffee joins other upcoming Vancouver openings like Holy Shakes downtown, Bento Cafe in Kerrisdale and Nuan Nuan Beef Noodle House in the West End.
