An imported candy and ice cream shop at Burnaby’s Metropolis at Metrotown has quietly closed, only months after opening on the mall’s upper level.
Sugar Burst opened its Metrotown shop in May 2026, beside Kernels Popcorn near the food court.
It’s now closed, and there was no announcement.
Its Instagram bio still lists both of its locations, Guildford and Metrotown.
The unit has already been spoken for.
DAVIDsTEA has its signage up over the space with “steeping HERE soon” and “come say hi fall 2026” across the front.

That’s a story of its own, since the tea chain closed its old Metrotown store in 2020, and we’ve written it up separately.
Sugar Burst isn’t gone from Metro Vancouver.
Its first shop, at Guildford Town Centre in Surrey, opened in September 2024 and is still open.
The draw was candy you don’t usually find at the grocery store.

The shelves carried imported candy and the viral TikTok treats, plus Japanese and international snacks, chips, chocolate and specialty drinks.
Recent posts on its Instagram pushed Strawberry KitKat, Hi-Chew soda pop, Jarritos spicy gummies, lychee Ramune and a king size Reese’s Oreo cup.
There was a dessert side too.

A bar at the front scooped ice cream, and the menu stacked warm cookies and brownies under a scoop with drizzles like Nutella, Kinder, Biscoff and salted caramel.
If imported snacks were your reason to swing by, the Guildford shop is the one to head to now.
Sugar Burst joins other recent Burnaby closures like Stuffies Pastries at Metrotown, Porker Face and Isami.
