Tokyo is known for its quirky cafes, but this one might just be the strangest yet.
TikToker @kaorihatsusee shared her visit to a cafe in Tokyo where you can experience the world through the eyes of a Japanese child.
Yup – it’s as unusual as it sounds.
@kaorihatsusee Hands down one of the weirdest cafe we've been to in Tokyo 😅 Learnt a lot from Japanese kids POV though 😮💨 @Marco Togni 📍 Kids’ Perspective Cafe / こどもの視点カフェ Address: Tokyo-to, Minato-ku, Kita-aoyama 2-3-1 Itochu Garden 2nd floor Open 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (last order 5 p.m.) #tokyocafe #cafe #japancafe #japantravel #japanfoodie #lifeinjapan #kidspov #childrenpov #pov #japan #tokyo ♬ Funny and Unusual Scene – HarmonicoHCO
Upon arrival, guests have to put their shoes in a locker, and while there’s no registration fee, you do have to order something from the cafeteria.
Kaorihatsusee chose the “Think Like a Child Set,” which featured food and drinks served in oversized portions to match a child’s point of view.
The cafe also features a giant table with a huge replica breakfast, giving visitors a feel for how kids perceive everyday items from their perspective.
One of the most interesting parts of the experience was trying on a replica of the school bags that Japanese children typically carry.
Kids’ school bags can weigh up to 5.7 kg, but the replica for adults weighs a staggering 18.9 kg to let visitors truly feel the weight that kids carry every day.
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s even a VR setup where you can experience what it’s like to be scolded by Japanese parents.
That’s gotta be a rerun of some traumas!
The whole experience is bizarre yet eye-opening, and Kaori was surprised to see that many of the customers were mothers with their children, perhaps wanting to share a nostalgic or relatable experience.
The TikTok comments were filled with viewers in awe of this unique cafe.
One user said, “Imagine if they also had a children’s play area where everything was huge. 😆 That’s so cool, I wish we had places like this in the states.”
Another added, “The VR and being scolded is crazy. I’m too sensitive for that 😭”
Would you be curious enough to visit this child POV cafe, or is it just too weird for you?
