After 36 years, an old-school Chinese herbal shop in Richmond is calling it.
Fok Po Tong, the herbal shop inside Yaohan food court, is shutting down for good after 36 years in business.
Rumours of the closure have been swirling on Red Note for the past month, and the sign now taped to the front of the shop has confirmed it.
According to the sign, the owner is retiring.

The last day of operation is May 12, 2026, and the shop will close for good on May 13.
Everything inside is on sale until the lights go out.
If you have ever walked past the Yaohan corner with the big ancient looking black wooden Chinese sign and the gold lettering, you know exactly which shop this is.

But this shop has actually been elsewhere in the city. From Chinatown to the OG Aberdeen to now Yaohan.
It is one of the few corners of the food court that always felt like it had been airlifted in straight from a back alley herbalist in Hong Kong.
Fok Po Tong is the kind of shop that does Chinese cooling tea (literal translation), guilinggao, and herbal soups properly, without cutting corners.
For anyone unfamiliar, the menu is the classic Cantonese herbal lineup.
Cooling teas, herbal drinks, soups, and jellies are meant to handle whatever your body has going on, whether that is acne, poor digestion, a nasty sore throat, or just a need to revitalize your soul.

The headliner is the guilinggao, the dark herbal jelly traditionally said to be good for skin and kidney health.
If you have only ever had the canned versions T&T sells, this is the upgrade.

As the owner prepares for retirement, many of the items in the shop are for sale.
Last day is May 12th.
Fok Po Tong joins a growing list of recently closed Richmond food spots, including Taikoo Yummy Food, Grandma Liu Hot Pot, and Katte.
