One of the MOST popular ramen chains in the city is landing in UBC this Fall.
A Noms Magazine community member (yvreats) spotted Danbo signs going up at the UBC Village area, in the unit under Big Way Hot Pot that Corner Kitchen left behind.
The sign reads DANBO Express, Fukuoka-style tonkotsu ramen, coming soon, with the line “Your Ramen, ANYWHERE.”

Danbo Express is a new format, not just a regular Danbo.
The Danbo team told Noms Magazine that they are aiming to open between late September and early October.
The team described it as designed for added convenience, built around self-ordering kiosks and optimized for quick dine-in, takeout and delivery.
The part students and UBC staff will care about is what is not changing.
“The menu and ramen quality will be the exact same high standard as our standard DANBO locations, with no major differences in the food itself,” the team said.
That matters because Danbo is not a chain people are lukewarm about.

It has sat near the top of Vancouver ramen rankings for years on the strength of Hakata-style thin noodles and a creamy tonkotsu broth, and the lineups at all their locations are the reason the brand keeps opening rooms.
For the unfamiliar, Danbo already runs three locations across the city right now, with shops on Robson Street, in Kitsilano, and in Kerrisdale that are all worth knowing.
The Kitsilano shop was actually the chain’s very first Canadian location, opening back in spring 2015.
The most recent one landed on Main Street earlier this July.
That was the fourth shop inside Vancouver and the fifth across Metro Vancouver.

The UBC Village one makes it six.
The unit itself has been dark since last winter.
Corner Kitchen, a Korean spot known around campus for gamja tang and galbitang, closed back in December 2025.
What is happening around it is the bigger story for all UBC students and staff.
Big Way Hot Pot sits directly above. Little Pisces is also inbound.
That means students and staff will be eating hella good in Fall.
A kiosk-ordering ramen counter is also a specific bet on that crowd, where the constraint is usually the 40 minutes between classes rather than the money.
Danbo Express joins other upcoming Vancouver food spots including Unveil Coffee, Crepe Spot, and Nami on Main Street.
