A popular Vancouver Korean donut shop is giving away 350 free Bruno Mars donuts a day at Holt Renfrew downtown, from October 16 to 18.
Mello announced the giveaway on Instagram, calling it a celebration of “Bruno Mars in Vancouver.”
The singer is in town for The Romantic Tour, with shows at BC Place on October 16 and 17, and two more on October 20 and 21.
That puts the first two giveaway days right on concert days.
The donut being handed out is a limited-edition one called The Romantic Donut, filled with raspberry jam.
Mello titled the post “A Little Sweeter, Like Bruno.”
In the promo photo, it has a dark brown top decorated with red and pink roses, green leaves and little pink pearls, sitting on a sugar-coated base.
The giveaway runs October 16, 17 and 18 at Holt Renfrew Vancouver, starting at 12 p.m. each day and running until that day’s 350 donuts are gone.
It’s first come, first served, and no purchase is necessary.
Mello will have a kiosk inside Holt Renfrew’s Vancouver store, at 737 Dunsmuir Street in CF Pacific Centre downtown.
That’s a different spot from Mello’s usual counters, so this is a three-day giveaway, not a new location.
Mello is the Korean brioche donut shop that opened its first shop on East Pender in Chinatown in 2019.
It now runs three Vancouver locations: the Chinatown original, a stall at Time Out Market in Oakridge Park, and the two-level Robson Street cafe it opened in August.
Mello hasn’t said whether The Romantic Donut will be sold at its shops once the giveaway wraps.
If you’ve got tickets for October 16 or 17, the giveaway opens at noon, so there’s time to swing by Holt Renfrew before heading to the stadium, but the day’s donuts are gone once all 350 are handed out.
The giveaway lands alongside other recent Vancouver food news like the openings of Danbo Express, Yoona’s Cafe & Tapas and Linh Noodle Bar.
