Popular Hidden Vancouver Matcha Bar Pop-Up Closes After A Successful Summer

This summer, while hot pot spots were trending, matcha drinks quietly became the city’s (and Tiktok girlies’) new obsession.

One of the most unexpected places to ride this wave was Shunfan Noodle House, an unassuming Chinese noodle shop along Victoria Drive, which hosted a wildly popular matcha pop-up bar.

Back in April, we shared the surprising news that Shunfan, which serves build-your-own noodle bowls and Hainanese Chicken, had turned a corner of its restaurant into a matcha haven.

It was a peculiar yet delightful combination—Instagram-worthy strawberry matcha lattes served alongside comforting bowls of noodles.

The pop-up was entirely run by the restaurant owner’s daughter, who single-handedly managed the counter and crafted the drinks.

The matcha bar quickly became a hit, with multiple videos on Instagram showcasing customers crowding the restaurant just for the matcha drinks.

The menu featured creative options like strawberry matcha, mango matcha, and pistachio matcha lattes, drawing matcha lovers from all over.

But after a successful summer run, the pop-up officially ended on September 2nd.

In an Instagram story, the team thanked all the customers who visited the past 4 months and hinted that something new is in the works.
