Attention, ramen lovers of Richmond!
Get your chopsticks ready because the much-adored Japanese ramen brand, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, is gearing up to open its first outlet right in your city.
Yes, Richmond’s ramen scene is set to get a fabulous upgrade, courtesy of this much-anticipated new challenger!
Who is Hokkaido Ramen Santouka?
Steeped in tradition since the 1980s, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka became a household name with its one-of-a-kind shio ramen – a heavenly blend served in a round bowl, graced by a small, pickled plum.
The secret to their signature white tonkotsu (pork bone) soup is a labour of love, carefully simmered for hours, rendering a delicate flavour that transcends age groups and culinary preferences.
The donburi (ramen bowl) used at Hokkaido Ramen Santouka was specially ordered by the founder to maintain the soup’s temperature and ensure the flavour remains intact. The colour of the donburi is now considered a symbol of the brand.
The Richmond Chapter
We spotted a ‘coming soon’ poster finally put up in front of their upcoming new location on Saba Road. According to the poster, it is slated to open in Fall.
A prime location, the new Santouka outlet will be just steps away from Richmond Public Market and the Brighouse Skytrain Station.
Once it throws open its doors, this will be Santouka’s third location in British Columbia, with the other two thriving in West Broadway and the West End.
This is the perfect time for you to revisit your noodle-slurping skills, Richmond, because the Hokkaido Ramen Santouka experience is en route and promises to be worth the wait!
