Popular Japanese Coffee Chain Opens Its First Permanent Vancouver Location

A Kyoto-born coffee chain just opened its first permanent Vancouver location, a grab-and-go kiosk at Oakridge Park.

% Arabica opened the kiosk on October 16, in a very visible spot right above Safeway and in front of Harry Rosen and Aritzia.

Locals may remember the brand actually made its BC entrance with a pop-up kiosk in downtown Vancouver.

Since then it has opened in Whistler and at CF Richmond Centre, but Oakridge Park is its first permanent home in Vancouver proper.

% Arabica says this is its eighth store in Canada and number 247 worldwide.

FINALLY, more coffee options in Oakridge Park.

The kiosk itself is a Studio Precht design, a run of lit oak rings with framed cut-outs, so you can watch the baristas from pretty much any side.

It’s not the first Precht kiosk in Canada, though, since Square One in Ontario already has one.

There’s no seating here at all.

It’s strictly grab and go.

The full drink menu that % Arabica fans know and love is here, from the Kyoto Latte and Spanish Latte to the Dark Latte and Matcha Latte.

One thing that surprised us is that this location also has the soft serve.

There’s a small merchandise shelf on the side, too, with % mugs.

% Arabica also has a mobile app where you get a special treat on your birthday and collect points to redeem pastries or free drinks.

Everyone starts in the Bronze tier, which gets you a free drink after your 10th coffee purchase.

If you’re hoping to order from your phone, not yet.

Once the Vancouver location is added to the app, you’ll be able to order ahead and pick up your drink like at the Toronto locations.

% Arabica joins other recent Vancouver openings like C Market Coffee downtown, Danbo Express at UBC and Yoona’s Cafe on Robson.
